Become a Mortgage Advisor
Mortgage Advisors are required to hold an active License in the United States.
Information to help you begin the process of becoming a licensed loan originator aka Mortgage Advisor.
You are free to choose any school you like, however; I recommend one of the top online schools available which is On Course Learning. They offer us a 25% discount on tuition by clicking
https://partners.oncourselearning.com/mortgage/insightmtg or entering “insightmtg” at time of checkout.
Please call On Course if you are unsure about what products you need to purchase. Depending on the States you intend to be licensed in, you will need an addition few hours of a state specific. The online course needs to be completed within 14 days.
I recommend you also purchase their test prep course and then research online after for other test prep options if you feel you may need some extra study material. The test is hard, but you should not procrastinate on taking the Final Paid Exam which is about $100 at a local testing facility.
Before taking the exam, you should obtain an NMLS number from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System website. You should call their help desk at (855) 665-7123 and explain that you are in the process of becoming a new licensed mortgage loan originator. Their website is constantly being updated and changed so they have people there to help walk you through the process.
For us to sponsor you as a Mortgage Advisor once you have passed the test and are licensed, you will need to have a login to the NMLS so that you can grant Insight Mortgage Corp NMLS 2629 access to your information. Once you have done this, please let us know so that we will be able to sponsor you.
These are the states we are currently licensed in. Please select the courses and read up on the licensing requirements for each state you plan to be able to write mortgages in:
